Brown?

I have been toying with the idea of going darker for the winter so.. I went ahead and dyed my hair. Unfortunately I cut my own bangs as well... and well that's another story. I'm not sure when I will learn that I am not allowed scissors when my own hair is involved. It's kind of fun but I'm sure blonde will be making it's appearance again soon.

I am working at the Border once again so another travelling weekend it is. I am starting to feel that I live out of a suitcase and I am ready to have a weekend to do nothing but sleep and watch Eureka.... and eat of course. Mostly a diet of sour patch watermelons. (I'm only half kidding)

Did I mention that I shouldn't have cut my own bangs. For someone who went to art school I really missed the lesson about straight lines. Maybe people will think I did it on purpose to show my quirky "I don't care about well cut bangs in this society" attitude. Well, see you all this weekend and if I don't see you hope you have a fabulous one.

Random Thinking

The weather is changing, life is changing and I find myself thinking of silly things to love. So little things to love today-
First a little quote: A good painting to me has always been like a friend. It keeps me company, comforts and inspires.
-Hedy Lamarr

(Below is an image of a painting by an artist named Danny O'Connor. These are mixed media paintings and I just love the graffiti quality in the images.)

(Here is a link to more of his images if you are interested http://www.flickr.com/photos/artbydoc/)

I have been just a little obsessed with jewelry lately. Specifically when jewelry is used as expression. I love this look and wish I could pull it off. I know most of you that really read this blog are going to cringe and maybe even scream a little. But I love how the jewelry follows the contour of her face and adds a harsh contrast to the softness of everything else. This is from the Jean Paul Gaultier 2012 spring show. Honestly, I just love this whole look.

And of course the top of the list of little things to love is PINTREST!!

What a wonderful site to collect all those little things to inspire, look at and want in neat little organized boards. Let's face it - It's the ability to organize the images that is the most addicting part for me.

I think a lot about beauty. There is an ability to find beauty, to feel it in an experience, in a person or in an understanding. Beauty is important to me. That I remember to stop and see the stars or stop and really hear all that is happening within a song. I have days I feel blind. That I didn’t hear or didn’t really see what was around me. People have the capability to be beautiful and I would like to remember to see it. The beauty that I am most drawn to is expression. To find a way that expresses us, our individuality and emotions in the way that we need- In all mediums. This may be the artist in me and yes, I have decided to believe I am an artist. Maybe not in the sense I was originally looking for but in the way I see the world.

I suppose that I hope to find and believe there is beauty in myself. To allow myself to create, live and express myself without fear. To be able to approach life completely - whatever may come.

Final Day! Self Portrait

O.k so I highly dislike self portraits and especially hate pictures of myself smiling so I made myself take one smiling one. Yeah, it didn't make the cut :) looks like a high school year book photo. :)

Well, we made it through 30 days of photography and I do want to keep up with taking photos. I'm thinking I have a few projects in mind but we'll see.

Day 28 - Flowers

Day 28 is Flowers... and be prepared for serious flower photo overload. I decided to go up Cedar Canyon and photograph the wild flowers one more time before it is too late. The mountain is beautiful right now - meadows full of flowers. So yeah... I took quite a few. I think back on all those times when I was young wondering why my Mom was taking so many pictures of flowers and scenery and well, look at me now. :)

Day 26 - Close Up & Day 27- From a Distance

Day 26 - Close Up. These are some details of the current painting I'm working on. I'm dripping paint over and over to build up color. It's far from done but there are some really cool textures happening.
