Highlights from my first week.

First week in Palm Springs down. This weather is definitely not for pansies! Today's expected temperature is 106. However being able to counteract it with a pool has been essential. We find ourselves saying, "Oh it's only 98 outside... too cold for swimming!"  On one hand it has been nice having this time off to just kind of relax yet, on the other hand the "relax" is covered in anxiety and stress knowing I'm currently unemployed.

I have loved this whole ombre nail look that is ever so trendy these day's and attempted it myself! Not exactly nailing it but kind of pretty eh?

Palm Springs just installed this giant statue of Marilyn Monroe. It is perfect for describing Palm Springs. Completely old Hollywood.

To escape the heat Tom and I drove up the mountain to this little town called Idyilwild. It is only about a 40 minute drive and the temperature is about 30 degrees less than Palm Springs. We ate an incredibly overpriced lunch and went for a hike around Himit Lake which was just beautiful.

One of my favorite things about this house is the back patio. I love eating outdoors and we have been taking advantage of the outdoor table.

And now for another week - I hope everyone has a fantastic week!

A day in San Diego, CA

I am officially moved to Palm Springs! The drive was a little brutal but I was glad we were able to make it at night rather than in the middle of the day. At 3:00 a.m. the desert was in the 90's. I need to start the ever dreaded job hunt so I wanted to go on a little adventure before my days were consumed with anxiety looking for work :) So, Tom and I headed to San Diego.

I have heard so many wonderful things about San Diego. That it is paradise on earth, so on and so on. Tom and I headed there to check things out for our selves. First we went and checked out a burger joint downtown named Hodad's. Hodad's has been featured on the food channel and according the reviews it is the best cheeseburger you'll ever have. From the looks of how busy they were inside I was thinking they were right. I however, have never had a cheeseburger that could beat Leo's in Delta and this still didn't come close... not to mention they got our order wrong. Yummy non the less.

We then headed to the famous Balboa Park, which is home the many many Art Museums and the San Diego Zoo. We didn't have a huge amount of time so we just wandered the park. Beautiful buildings! ( One of the exhibits was Robert Vavra! I would have loved to spend the time to look at that. - You all know his photography. He is one of the best horse photographers there is.)

"Ocean Beach"
This is my favorite part of San Diego we visited!

We decided to grab a snack while on the beach and ended getting this waffle ice cream sandwich. I wasn't sure what I would think of it but it was actually quite amazing. Freshly made waffles, Praline and caramel ice cream = Phenomenal.

O.k. so San Diego I would not call paradise on earth - maybe we caught it on a bad day. The weather was FREEZING. However, the town it self was great and I loved it! It is fun to have so many new things right next to us here in Palm Springs.

Thanks to everyone who helped me move. I was very lucky to have Konnie who is housing my things for me while I find an apartment and Rose and Audrey for helping with everything!
