Thanksgiving Break (Portland)

Well, it was a great week spent in Portland. The drive was long and I almost need a vacation from my vacation but that's usually how it goes. These are just some pictures I took of Tom and I on top of a hill near Dolores and Earl's house. I will post more pictures from the wedding shower which was fabulous and we were ever so spoiled.

More pictures to come I just couldn't get them to upload today. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!

The Next One

o.k. so here is the next painting in my "series." It's a little cheesy but I am at least figuring out more of what I want. The flash made the painting a little funky, but you get the basic idea. You Get a cookie if you can guess who it is. :)

Another weekend in EskDale

Another fabulous weekend in the valley of snakes. I had a great time with Nakia, Jessica and Melanie. Had a chance to visit with the family and ate a great dinner.

my own project

o.k. time for some selfish ranting. This year I am in advanced painting which means that I am responsible for coming up with my own projects, which not a great thing for me. Most artist need to feel free in the creation and that it is not influenced by being told what to do. Me- I hit a brick wall when it's up to me. So this is the somewhat bull-ss theory I've come up with and I'd love to get some honest opinions. (Annette and Sharon, that would be you as you are the only ones who read this) (thanx by the way) anyways, so I got thinking, everyone can learn the skill to paint or draw realistically. What if I took myself far enough from realism so the focus is not simply on what the image is "of", yet far enough from abstraction so as not to get lost in it. Instead a goal of "color expressionism". Can I express what I see through what I feel? o.k. before I get confused and lost in what I'm saying I will sort of start over. Can this kind of image make you feel. maybe that's what I'm really trying to find in what I'm doing. Lately I have been incredibly discouraged and thus not even wanting to paint. writers block I guess. Anyways, feel free to critique away.

The First snow of the Fall

I went home to EskDale this weekend to see the fam. Unfortunately I woke up to the unwelcome site of snow. It did however motivate me to go out and take some photographs. I do have to say I am not ready for the snow. Every year I think this is the year I will crash my car driving on ice and die. Someone wish me luck.

Wednesday

Well, it's another wonderful afternoon spent in the Art Gallery. The funny thing about spending so much time on the internet is you just keep finding more things to look at. My first days here felt so long and I couldn't imagine what else there was to look at on the internet. One month in to my job and seven hours is not enough time to finish everything I'd like to do. Blogs are so great, I feel like I have entered a new world. Being a college student I have had to give up my long-time addiction to fashion magazines and vuwala, online magazines. I know this can't last forever so I guess I'll miss my internet time when it comes to an end. Maybe... I still get pretty dang bored.

Yay for the Wedding date. June 6th at Baker Ranch. Blue and Orange, it's going to be great!!

Another day

o.k. so I realize that writing a blog is basically an online diary, which could be boring for anybody but yourself. I started this blog a while ago but gave up on it because I have no idea how to "blog". I have started working at an Art Gallery, and all my job description includes is saying hello and that's about it. (that's a little oversimplified but you get the picture) So, I am going to blog because I am out of things to surf or to read.

I have really thought this exhibit is fantastic ("In Focus" portraits from National Geographic) But boy do I have something to complain about. I have found more adults that children touching the photographs. What? Who goes into an art gallery and touches everything? I'll stop my ranting but seriously, stop touching the photographs!

Tomorrow I meet with LaVon from the Gardens in Toquerville and will find out if our wedding will be there or not. I am definately looking forward to being able to set a date.

Well, that does it. And i wasted a little amount of time trying to figure this out again. Only four more hours to go and it's home for me.

San Francisco

Finally, a much needed vacation and the end of another semester. I have to admit to have been very burned out this semester (not quite sure why, I loved all my classes) . So to San Francisco we went. We went to Alcatraz which was great, I'd never done that before. yes, vacation was great and now I have to the dishes and change the light in the bathroom.
