Phoenix - Yayoi Kusama's instillation piece

Rosaleen and I drove to Phoenix this weekend to go and visit my Dad. It was a really nice weekend filled with sleep, Castle and visiting with family.
On Friday we went to the Phoenix Art Museum. Unfortunately many of the exhibits were closed for renovation (or something like that) But the modern art wing was open so it was a happy day for me. ;) I have never really been incredibly drawn to instillation art and was pleasantly surprised to find one I loved so much. The Phoenix museum was featuring work by an artist by the name of Yayoi Kusama. This isn't the exact exhibit we saw but it is in the series and gives you an idea of what we saw.
You entered a room that was pitch black with lights hanging around you. Mirrors surrounded you so you could see the lights go on forever. There really was a sense of wonder. I felt like I was standing in space looking at an endless sea of stars. I think we stood in there for about 10 or 15 minutes. I'm glad I did not read the title of the piece before we entered. The title is something along the lines of "fireflies". I think what I saw in there was more grand than imagining fireflies. :)
Anyways, I loved it so much I thought I would put it on here - Have a great day!!
